Kristin Knauff attended the Academy of Art University in San Francisco. She worked as a stylist for several years in the Bay Area before moving to Los Angeles. In early 2003, Kristin opened her boutique, apartment 3, selling hand-selected vintage clothing and designer pieces.Since apartment 3 has represented over 500 independent designers from all over the world and developed a loyal customer base. Celebrity shoppers include: (Scarlett Johansson, Karen O, Julian Casablancas, Hillary Swank, Christina Applegate, Fergi, John Krasenski, and Tyra Banks) Kristin started working with Christiaan to develop a private label: three-LA. The label,three-LA utilizes her fashion education and boutique experience, designing beautiful twists on basics with a focus on tailoring.
Christiaan was raised in South Africa and moved to London when he was 19 years old. In London,while studing fine art, he developed an interest in fashion as away to make art wearable and accessible. Christiaan moved to the United States in 1999 after a stint in New-York he enrolled at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, ultimately graduating with a degree in fashion design. Christiaan has worked as a stylist for many clothing lines, but has always had an interest in developing his own line. Los Angeles served as his inspiration for designing a unique fashion line reflecting his vision of American culture,chic and style. When he began working with Kristin Knauff , three-LA was born.
